Brackley Town have completed the signing of experienced midfielder Kieron Morris, who made his debut for the club this week. The 32-year-old joined on a short-term deal announced on August 22 and came off the bench in the same day's 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield.

Andy Whing's side currently sit 15th in the National League North with four points from four games, having scored four goals and conceded six. They are eight points behind early leaders Chester.

Kieron Morris is a seasoned professional who began his career at Walsall. He has spent the majority of his career in the Football League, making 177 appearances in League One and a further 190 in League Two. For Walsall, he played 171 times, scoring 20 goals and providing 12 assists. His most significant spell came at Tranmere Rovers, where he featured in 257 matches and contributed 33 goals and 33 assists.

Last season saw him with League Two side Oldham Athletic, where he played seven times before going on loan to National League outfit Halifax Town for 12 appearances. Morris is capable of playing anywhere across the midfield.

Manager Andy Whing has moved to add Morris's experience to a squad that has been hit by a host of injuries and suspensions at the start of the new season. The match at Macclesfield saw both Kieran Coates and Josh Tomlinson receive red cards, further stretching resources.

Whing hopes the new arrival can bring leadership and improve the team's balance in the middle of the park. Andy Whing praised Kieron Morris after the match.

Morris's first appearance for Brackley Town came in a difficult 2-1 away loss to Macclesfield. He entered the game as a substitute, but the Saints' task was made harder by the two red cards shown to Coates and Tomlinson. The result forms part of a recent run of form recorded as LLDW.

The immediate focus turns to a quick turnaround of fixtures. Kieron Morris could make his home debut on August 29 when Brackley Town hosts South Shields at 3pm. This is followed by a trip to Chorley on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31. Fans can check the full schedule on our fixtures page.

With the team looking to climb from 15th place in the standings, the addition of a player with Morris's pedigree is a clear attempt to add stability during a challenging period.
