Brackley Town boss Whing delivers brutally honest verdict on King's Lynn defeat

Brackley Town boss Andy Whing has delivered a brutally honest verdict on the team's 2-0 defeat to King's Lynn, describing the Saints as 'men against boys' and 'naive'.

The Saints had claimed four points from their opening two games against AFC Telford United and Hebburn Town, but were well below par against King's Lynn. Apart from a positive 10-minute spell in the second half, Brackley couldn't match the visitors. King's Lynn were the better runners on the night and displayed far more physicality to come out on top in the majority of their duels.

Why it matters for Brackley Town

Whing described the team as 'young and naive', missing captain Kyle Morrison, vice-skipper Charlie Cooper and centre-back Will Armitage through injury. The Saints struggled to knit together any real consistency and were bullied by King's Lynn.

With several days to get a grip on what happened against the Linnets, Brackley boss Whing will be keen to bounce back this Saturday (August 22) away at Macclesfield FC. It certainly won't be easy against a team currently fourth in the National League North, especially with Morrison, Cooper and Armitage still out, but the Saints will give it their all. Next fixture: vs Oxford City (at home, 2026-12-26).
