Byron Pendleton has returned to Brackley Town on loan from Shrewsbury Town. The 20-year-old defender’s move runs until January, with Shrewsbury retaining a 24-hour recall option after an initial 28-day period.
Pendleton told Brackley’s website he was ecstatic to be back. “I loved being here last year,” he said. “My main aim is to get games under my belt and help Brackley get back to where they deserve to be.”
His previous loan at St James Park was a success before injury cut it short, with Pendleton winning both the players’ and captain’s player of the season awards. He rejoins a Brackley side sitting 16th in the National League North with 15 points from 11 games. Their next fixture is a home game against 9th placed Chorley.
Shrewsbury Town issued a statement wishing the player well. “Everyone at Shrewsbury Town wishes Byron the very best during his time in Northamptonshire,” the club said. Pendleton is the third Shrewsbury player to depart on loan in recent weeks, having made just three cup appearances for them this season. He will now aim to add defensive solidity to a Brackley squad looking to climb the standings.

Shrewsbury Town manager Gavin Cowan said on October 17 that Byron Pendleton has struggled to settle at the League One club. Cowan stated the loan to Brackley Town was designed to build the defender's confidence. "(He has) huge potential, bags of ability. And we’ve just not seen it from him at the moment," Cowan said. The move follows Brackley's 3-2 defeat at Hednesford Town on October 17. Pendleton will continue to train with Shrewsbury while playing for the part-time National League North side.
